Blake Griffin Enough Said

Actually, Griffin’s two-handed finish isn’t the impressive part of this play.  No, it’s the 50-foot alley from teammate Randy Foye before Griffin’s thunderous oop that’s praiseworthy.
But Blake Griffin’s involved, and he’s the greatest thing the NBA has seen since Kim Kardashian’s ass stared showing up at Nets games.   Besides, who do you think is going to draw more readers in—Randy Foye or Blake Griffin?  No offense to Foye, but the answer is pretty freaking obvious. Anywho, heres the tremendous alley-oop Foye and Griffin pulled off against the BobCats, in regular time, slo-mo, and super slo-mo.

Big Ben Role Model?

FORT WORTH -- At his first Super Bowl XLV press conference Monday, Ben Roethlisberger again wasn't inclined to "reflect" on matters surrounding his four-game suspension at the start of this season. But he did look ahead to something he said he hopes to achieve beyond Sunday's game.
"I want to be a role model. I want people to look up to me. I like when kids wear my jersey," the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers told dozens of media representatives crowded around his interview platform at the team hotel.
By Matthew Emmons, US Presswire
He elaborated on that later, saying he meant more than being a role model as an NFL player.
"Absolutely, there's a lot more to it than just that," he said. "You want to be a good person. You want to be some day, hopefully, a good father, husband, whatever that entails, grandfather and all those things. I think there's a lot of people you can be role models to."
But Roethlisberger was asked multiple questions about his thoughts on beginning the season under a suspension imposed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Is the Hawks Nest going to get political Maybe a little

Let’s start with what may seem a nitpick. The NFL could never be accurately described as socialist, because socialism is state control of the means of production, and the NFL is not a state.  Maher’s specific claim is that the NFL is socialist, and its socialism is why it works.  If we care at all about the actual meaning of words, his claim is dead on arrival. But that’s the boring argument.
Maher fails to address the single most relevant factor in the NFL’s business model – motive. Why does the NFL share revenue between teams, make the Super Bowl champions pick last in the next draft, and otherwise take measures to ensure competitiveness throughout the league? It does so in order to craft an exciting product which it then takes to a free market to sell. The NFL’s business model is not in place to fulfill some ideological compulsion, to be “fair” for fairness’s sake. The NFL shares revenue to maximize profit! The NFL is a business which operates within an economy, not an economy in and of itself. The reason its business model works is because it meets a discretionary demand in the market.

Erin Andrews’ Hotness Validated by This Chubby Kansas Fan

Sure that fat kid in a Kansas jersey isn’t telling us something we don’t already know—that ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews is hot—but the fact that he does it in spitting range of the lovely Ms. Andrews, on national television no less, makes it the stuff of legend.
Our chubby friend’s moment of glory came during the Kansas-Kansas State game, won easily by the Jayhawks 90-66.  Andrews was rambling on about something Bill Self said, or did, or was going to do (really, who pays attention to what EA’s saying during her sideline reports anyway), when our portly hero jumped up, mugged for the camera, and gained instant Internet fame.

Firing Off Your Backyard Cannon Not the Best Way to Celebrate a Steelers Win

Before I get started I have to ask—who has a cannon in their backyard?  I mean an actual working cannon in your backyard?  Unless you’re using it to scare away giant predatory birds the size of a Cessna, then you have no business owning a cannon, period. Try telling that to Bobby Wayne Blanton, a North Carolina man who thought it’d be a wise idea to fire off his homemade cannon following the Pittsburgh Steelers victory over the New York Jets in last Sunday’s AFC title game.
Neighbors called police to alert them that Blanton was shooting his howitzer, and when they got their, found that the 45-year-old man had a “second homemade cannon, two containers of black powder, muzzle-loading propellant pellets and a fuse.”
Hey, the man likes his heavy artillery as much as he likes his football team…which is kind of scary when you think about it.  But I’m sure it seemed like a good idea to Bobby Wayne at the time.
Blanton was given a citation for discharging a firearm within city limits.  No word on whether his pair of homemade cannons were seized or not, but what are the odds he had permits for both of them?  This is North Carolina after all.
Anyone want to bet alcohol was involved?  Anyone?  Bueller?
I can only imagine how Blanton plans on celebrating a Steelers Super Bowl win—probably a reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg, complete with real artillery, held at the local Boys and Girls club.

What College Basketball Needed

Listen to Music Video While reading this article Video is Highlights from last nights game against San Diego State

Senior guard Jimmer Fredette scored 43 points to lead the No. 9 BYU Cougars over the No. 4 San Diego State Aztecs 71-58 in front of a sellout crowd at the Marriott Center on Wednesday night. redette led all scorers on the night, hitting 14-of-24 shots from the field, including five-of-eight from behind the arc. His 43 points are the most ever scored by a Cougar in the Marriott Center.  Fredette's consistent free-throw shooting helped build BYU’s lead to 67-56 with under two minutes to go. Fredette, who made 10-of-11 from the line on the night would help seal BYU’s victory by making all seven attempts in the closing minutes.  Bottom line is this kid is legit and he is the most interesting player to watch in college basketball these days.

Zombies in Iowa

The University of Iowa says 12 football players have been hospitalized for symptoms likely related to offseason workouts.  Tuesday's announcement that a dozen players had been hospitalized was just the latest bad news to hit the program that just wrapped a disappointing 8-5 season.Senior wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos was suspended for the Hawkeyes' Insight Bowl win over Missouri after an arrest on drug charges. Johnson-Koulianos pleaded guilty to marijuana possession while other drug charges against him were dismissed.

Running back Adam Robinson was dismissed from the team after being arrested for possession of marijuana in his hometown of Des Moines while on suspension for violating team rules.  Several players wrote on their Facebook pages that the workouts involved intense weightlifting. Freshman linebacker Jim Poggi wrote Saturday that he had done 100 squats and pushed a sled 100 yards.  He said he was having trouble walking. His uncle, Bo Poggi, said his nephew remained hospitalized Wednesday and he had not heard an official explanation of the illness."All of us are extremely concerned," Poggi said.

"We're hoping for the best and this is a temporary situation and he'll make a full recovery. And then we'll get to the next steps on how this happened, why it happened."Another player, freshman defensive lineman Carl Davis of Detroit, wrote Sunday that he couldn't walk or feel his arms after performing 100 squats and 100 bench presses, and had "a whole weekend of soreness." A third, freshman defensive back Tanner Miller of Kalona, Iowa, wrote on Tuesday that he had a "night in the hospital .couldn't be a worse day." http://www.kcci.com/r/26613508/detail.html

So my question is who do we throw the blame on? I believe its this man:

Having players do those types of workouts in the off season is absolutely disgusting.  I used to be an athlete played college baseball and I will admit that off season workouts were never fun but to physically put your players in the hospital is absolutely in moral Great Job Kirk you sure one hell of a coach.

Maybe they should take examples from Dawn of the Dead on good ol Kirk Ferentz

The Nets Are So Bad

Look at these Fans at Nets Games instead of watching their pathetic team they are paying attention to Kim's Ass.  How about their Million Dollar Owner figure out how to get a winner in New Jersey or you will have to pay Kim to come to the game so Fans have something to pay attention to.

Man this child hates the Packers

This four year old Bears fan will either melt your heart or you will just laugh your ass off either way she is pretty pissed that her Bears Lost and her Dad is totally enjoying the fact that her little girl is crying...

The Next Great Flopper of the NBA

This Guy is the Biggest Homer Ever

I thought Legos were for kids right?  well Paul Janssen thought differently Paul decided to build a replica of Ohio Stadium.  The stadium measures 8 Foot by 6 Foot and can be divided into a 10 distinct sections.  Each of these sections weight close to 50 pounds.  Paul put roughly 1000 man hours into his Lego masterpiece.  Get this though if he would have purchased the Legos brand new his project would have roughly cost him $50,000 to $75,000

Here are some more photos.
Wow….just, wow.  Words fail me.  All that’s missing is Lego Jim Tressel and his little Lego sweater vest.
I don’t know what I find more impressive though—Paul Janssen’s dedication to this monstrosity of a project, or his wife’s two years and 1000 hours worth of understanding and acceptance.
I’ll go with the wife.

Sad Day in Fitness World

Jack Lalanne the seemingly eternal master of health and fitness who first popularized the idea that Americans should work out and eat right to retain youthfulness and vigor, died Sunday. He was 96. LaLanne opened what is commonly believed to be the nation's first health club, in Oakland in 1936. In the 1950s, he launched an early-morning show keyed to housewives. He designed many now-familiar exercise machines, including leg extension machines and cable-pulley weights. And he proposed the then-radical idea that women, the elderly and even the disabled should work out to retain strength.

The Pick of the Day has to go Mark Sanchez

NFL Thugs being Thugs

Denver Broncos running back Laurence Maroney has been arrested in St. Louis on drugs and weapons allegations. His publicist said Tuesday that he did nothing wrong.
St. Louis police said five people in an Infiniti Q56 were arrested Monday night. Police declined to name the suspects but said all five are accused of possessing marijuana. Three, including a 25-year-old man, were accused of unlawful use of a weapon. Maroney, 25, is a native of suburban St. Louis. No one has been formally charged. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5j0gR7YWzBvo_gnLneAfZpaVyG-DA?docId=5686028

Garnett Makes a Good Point

Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics made some very interesting points over the weekend.  The Patriots Lose over the weekend to the New York Jets 28-21.  With that loss Garnett commented by saying  “Weekend was slow and went as a team to the Patriots game. They lost and the stadium was in shock. Crazy that they were supposed to be the best team and now they are out. That is why I want our guys to see that we can’t take anything for granted and we need to play as if we could be eliminated.” http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/17/garnett-says-celtics-should-learn-lesson-from-patriots-loss/

Jets win who saw this coming I did

Well for once the outcome of a football game was decided on the field.  All week we have been dealing with smack talk from both sides.  I'm not a huge fan of smack talking back because to me it never shows anything but the outcome of this game was not one that was going to expected.  On Paper the Patriots were obviously the better team.  The Jets kept capitalizing on the Patriots mistakes.  I do believe now after watching this game that the better team won or at least on this day.  Heck they stunned the New England Patriots in the AFC divisional playoffs, 28-21, for the franchise’s biggest victory since Super Bwl III in 1969. The Jets played a near-perfect game against a team that humiliated them last month, 45-3. This was a 49-point turnaround, the first time in modern history that a team lost by at least 37 points to a team in the regular season and rebounded to beat the same team in the playoffs.   Early this week Rex kept running his mouth and said how this match up was personal.  After admittedly doing a poor job in last month’s debacle, Ryan took his dunce cap and placed it on the head of the Hoodie. He badly outcoached Belichick, who lost a replay challenge in the first half, tried an ill-advised fake punt that set up the Jets’ second touchdown and failed to make the proper halftime adjustments on offense. Another mistake was not staying in the hurry-up after scoring their first touchdown with an up-tempo offense.  This was a game that Jet Fans better stand up and enjoy this one because heading into next week they will have a another tough test in the Pittsburgh Steelers but for now enjoy Fight On Jets!

One of the Dirtiest Players heading to the NFL

Nick Fairley has decided to forgo his senior and head to the NFL.  He is by far one of the dirtiest players that has suited up in college football.  Fairley made the announcement Friday afternoon at his high school in Mobile, Alabama.

He better start looking at examples James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers because he will start being fined by the NFL on a regular basis.

One of My Favorite Pitchers is he a Hall of Famer?

If Trevor Hoffman isn't in the Hall of Fame then the hall of fame is a joke.  Trevor Hoffman has statistics that will never be touched.  http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hoffmtr01.shtml#pitching_simple::none Go ahead and check um out.  He was by far one of the biggest lights out pitchers that has ever played the game.  People will continue to say that he didn't preform in the playoffs and that should keep him off the ballot. In my opinion that is travesty and a joke if he isn't in the hall of fame.  Best of Luck to you Trevor memories of watching you pitch will be missed.

Damn never saw this coming (yeah right)

Homeless man-turned MSNBC announcer Ted Williams is checking himself into rehab, a Dr. Phil show rep confirms.
Williams, who became a viral internet sensation for his golden voice, admits in an episode of the Dr. Phil show to air Thursday that he has started drinking again. He had been sober for two years.
Williams was briefly detained by police Monday night in Hollywood after getting into an altercation with his daughter, Janey, who accused him of drinking, which he denied at first.
Dr. Phil convinced Williams to enter rehab off-camera, GossipCop.com reports.
Williams' spots for MSNBC’s "Lean Forward" campaign begin airing late last week.

Pittsburgh & Baltimore game starting to Heat Up

Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs wore a t-shirt on Wednesday with a crude message aimed at his opponent in Saturday's AFC divisional playoff, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Suggs spoke to reporters with a black shirt with yellow letters that read "Hey Pittsburgh." Beneath the script was a purple hand extending its middle finger.
Told he might give motivation to his rivals, Suggs said (via the Baltimore Sun), "Do I seem worried? This game is going to be what it is regardless.  This is why love the NFL during the playoffs because of the fact that everything is put on the line.  To me personally this game is the best game in college football it cannot get any better than this game right here.

Bryan Harsin is new OC for Texas

To me this is the best move for Bryan he needs to head to greener and better pastures.

Officating in College Football is a Joke

Here is my take on college football referee, they are garbage.  Bad Calls and Missed Call's especially when they have the replay.  There should be no excuse for referees.  The video below will explain the rest.

BCS National Championship

Alright Auburn has Won the National Championship but this video evidence shows the kind of dirtiness comes out of Auburn Football should not be tolerated.  Eric Smith of Auburn should have been thrown out of the game right ofter this disgusting display of sportsmenship.

Future Coach of the Texas Longhorns?

With the latest developments coming out of Dallas Morning News http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/01/texas-longhorns-targeting-boise-state-of.html While Harsin doesn't have the name recognition as others in the news, including Guz Malzahn, Mike Leach and Major Applewhite, many of his qualities may be exactly what the Longhorns need at this point.
Harsin's calling card is his creativity in play-calling and mastery of the pro-style offense which Mack Brown has reportedly expressed a desire in again implementing on the 40 Acres. Harsin has been on the coaching staff for the Broncos for a total of 10 years and has been at the helm of the high-octane offense for head coach Chris Petersen for the past four seasons.
Typically Chris Petersen has been hands-off with play-calling during his tenure at Boise State and has placed the responsibility for control of the offense on Harsin's shoulders.  I will keep you posted when more information becomes available.

Rich Rod Out

The firing of Rodriguez, who was 15-22 in three seasons at the school, comes three days after Michigan lost to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. Under Rodriguez, the Wolverines went 1-10 against ranked teams and failed to beat Michigan State and Ohio State.
Reports that  Jim Harbaugh, the Stanford coach and Michigan alum, was in line to succeed Rodriguez were  shot down. Candidates reportedly could include two former Michigan assistants: San Diego State Coach Brady Hoke and LSU Coach Les Miles.  To myself personally the Michigan position isn't that desirable its just as much as exciting as the Notre Dame Position.  Rich Rod is a train wreck and should have never left coaching at WVU.  My question is who will take the position go ahead and give me your thoughts.

Randy Edsall to Maryland Good Move?

Is this really a good move for Randy Edsall? I look at this hiring and I think only one thing and that he just went from one basketball school to another basketball school. Yes by having him move to the ACC without a doubt it’s a better Football Conference than the Big East but is this really a good move? Edsall guided Connecticut to a 74-70 record, including an 8-5 mark this past season en route to a Big East title and the program's first BCS bowl game. It was the fourth consecutive postseason appearance for UConn, which began Edsall's tenure in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Looking at that record some individuals would say that is a horrible college coaching record but look where he is coaching. The Big East Conference is a joke always has been for football and it will continue to be a weaker conference. Looking at the future of the Big East they will be adding TCU which should continue its ways that they have in the Mountain West by dominating their opponents.
Randy should have stayed. He has the chance to make UCONN continue to grow he already has made to the BCS Bowl Game. He is now moving into a conference that is historically better in football and not just known for their basketball.
I guess will just have to sit back and wonder if this was a good move for Randy or not. Personally I think he should have stayed and Maryland should have hired Former Texas Tech Coach Mike Leach, but that's a story for another day.

Cooking with Head Coach Bill Belichick

So its a Brand New Year with New Recipe Ideas so what should you make? Well why don't we get a cooking lesson from Head Coach Bill Belichick
