I sure do love a fired up manager

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon had a stroke of genius today as he went out to argue with umpires over what he perceived as a blown call at first base.  Maddon went ballistic after the Rays Dan Johnson was called safe at first after it appeared Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd dropped the ball, only to have the call reversed by the umps following a meeting with Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen. In his rage Maddon turned the tables on the umps, systematically ejecting them one by one.  Of course his little ploy didn’t work, and in the end, Maddon himself was the only one tossed from the game.
I give him an A+ for effort, but unfortunately for Maddon, that’s about all he got out of today’s game, as his Rays dropped to 1-8 on the year with the 6-1 loss to the White Sox.  Being an umpire I sure do love a fired up manager because whether the umpires call is right or wrong he is not going to be able to change the call because he then will have the other coach all over his butt.
